Born in 1988 (Andhra Pradesh), Cyrus studied sculpture at Andhra University, Visakhapatnam followed by a Masters from the College of Art, New Delhi. Cyrus works are largely inspired by the architecture and aesthetics of ancient remains, especially those of temples in coastal India. Historically, temples were centres of learning and teaching. The sense of harmony and mystery with the complex physical and technical specifications intrigued Cyrus. His art practice aims at expressing the stimulating equations of nature, taking visual and philosophical inspirations from the great temples of ancient India. He works in stone, most often in marble and granite. Skilfully carved, his sculptures almost always depict the depleting and eroding silhouette. The undulations juxtaposed with the precise reminds us of the impermanence of everything. Cyrus refers to the age-old structures being hit by sea waves, leaving their mark, and over time destroying the forms. Eventually what is left behind is a convergence of the man-made collaborating with the inevitable forces of nature. Cyrus has received the 2022 Lalit Kala Academy award
