As an artist deeply influenced by my agrarian roots, my practice delves into the complexities of labor politics and class disparities, reflecting my own transitions from rural landscapes to urban environments. My work interweaves memories of seed grains, anthills, and temple architecture, exploring the transformation of transient organic forms into enduring sculptures in stone and metal. This transformation underscores the stark contrasts between the ephemeral constructs of nature and the permanent, mechanized structures of urban development, symbolizing the profound impacts of societal shifts and behavioral changes. My current focus on casual and unskilled workers—particularly rural day laborers and farmers—highlights the fragility of their existence amidst challenges like seasonal migration, smuggling, forced labor, and discrimination. These agricultural communities’ precarious life cycles, marked by occupational hazards and insufficient livelihoods, inspire my sculptural exploration of rural life, soil, climate, migration, and aspirations. Ships feature prominently in my work as metaphors for the journey between memory and desire, emphasizing the significance of human migration. By capturing the essence of these lived experiences, I aim to present a poignant commentary on the pursuit of a better life faced by the new generation of villagers and farmers. Through my art, I seek to offer a reflection on the precarious lives of those tethered to the agricultural sector, navigating the vast chasm between their ancestral homes and the elusive dreams of urban prosperity
